Grapes
A blend of three Champagne varietals, typically 30% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir, and 25% Pinot Meunier. The blend includes a significant proportion of still red wine (12%–15%) made from Pinot Noir.
Farming
Grapes are sourced from various crus, including top vineyards in the Montagne de Reims and Les Riceys for the Pinot Noir used to make the still red wine component. The selection of high-quality base wines is critical.
Winemaking
The rosé color is achieved by adding the still red Pinot Noir wine (vin rouge) to the white base wine (assemblage). The final cuvée is aged for a minimum of three years on the lees in Taittinger's cellars. The dosage is typically 9 g/L (Brut).
Tasting Notes
Known for its intense color and expressive fruit. The nose offers rich aromas of crushed red berries (wild raspberry, cherry, blackcurrant), often with hints of blood orange. The palate is full-bodied and velvety, balancing the freshness and structure of the red fruit with the elegance from the Chardonnay.
