Aromas of fresh strawberry, pink grapefruit, and white jasmine flowers integrate with subtle notes of litchi and a hint of wet stone. The palate is light-bodied and exceptionally crisp, featuring a zesty acidity and a clean, bone-dry finish. It displays a vibrant red berry profile with a refreshing energy and an elegant, lean texture that makes it an ideal companion for warm days or light Mediterranean fare.
Winemaker Lulú Martínez Ojeda utilizes 100% Barbera grapes to create this focused expression. In the cellar, the fruit undergoes a short one-hour maceration on the skins to achieve its delicate salmon-pink color before being direct-pressed. The juice is fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks to lock in the primary fruit aromatics and maintain a high-toned freshness. The wine matures for six months in stainless steel, a process that ensures the final bottling remains bright and unmasked by oak.
The fruit is grown in the Rancho Llano Colorado vineyard within the Valle de San Vicente in Baja California, Mexico. The site is defined by its cooling maritime influence from the Pacific Ocean, which allows the Barbera to retain its signature high acidity even in the sun-drenched climate of the region. This area features diverse soils that contribute a subtle mineral backbone to the wine. As a collaboration between Bruma and Llano Colorado, this project highlights the emerging potential of Valle de San Vicente for producing world-class, vibrant rosés.
