Aromas of lime peel, green apple, elderflower, and wet slate open to a palate that is light and mouthwatering with a brisk, slate-driven minerality running beneath crisp apple and white peach fruit. The finish is bright and tangy with a subtle sweetness that keeps the acidity from feeling austere.
Grapes are sourced from estate vineyards along the Mosel and Saar rivers, fermented exclusively with indigenous yeasts, and aged in traditional 1,000-liter Fuder barrels for several months before bottling.
The estate spans approximately 45 hectares across steep, south-facing slopes along the Mosel and Saar rivers in Germany's Mosel Valley. The vineyards are planted on blue slate soils, a defining characteristic of this stretch of river that absorbs heat during the day and releases it at night, allowing Riesling to ripen slowly and fully in one of the world's most northerly fine wine regions. The estate was founded in 1947 by Nik Weis's grandfather and has been a member of the VDP, Germany's association of top quality wine estates, since 2000.
