Aromas of black currant, dried cherry, cedar, and a hint of tobacco open to a medium-bodied palate with fine tannins and a fresh, lifted acidity that keeps the wine nimble rather than heavy. There is a savory earthiness running through the finish alongside a subtle herbal note that lingers cleanly.
Grapes are fermented spontaneously with native yeasts in cement tanks without temperature control, then aged for one year before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. No sulfur is added at any point in the process. The blend is 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Duc des Nauves vineyard is a nine-hectare parcel acquired by the Amoreau family in 2006 and farmed biodynamically since the beginning, receiving Demeter certification in 2015. It sits on the same asteriated limestone bedrock as the family's estate vineyards, at 80 meters above sea level on the Right Bank plateau that connects to Saint-Émilion to the west. The topsoil here is slightly sandier and deeper than at the main estate, giving the wine its approachable, fruit-forward character while retaining the mineral precision and energy that define this corner of Bordeaux.
