Intense red with aromas of ripe red and black fruit, wild berries, and subtle balsamic notes. The palate is medium‑bodied with lively acidity and fine tannins, showing depth of fruit and a structured, persistent finish. The overall impression is fresh yet expressive, with layered fruit and spice.
This is 100 % Mencía from very old vines, hand‑harvested and fermented with native yeasts in stainless‑steel tanks. After alcoholic and malolactic fermentation the wine was aged about ten months in 500‑liter French oak barrels, allowing integration of fruit and gentle structure.
Produced by Vinos Valtuille in Valtuille de Abajo in the Bierzo DO of northwest Spain. Vineyards sit between roughly 500 and 700 m elevation on clay‑rich and sandy soils on hills surrounding the village, and the winery works many small plots to express the varied terroir of this Bierzo village.
