Aromas of lemon pith, oyster shell, pastry, and macadamia nut open to a medium-bodied palate with lime curd, orange peel, and grapefruit, carried by a laser-like acidity and a creamy, textured mouthfeel. The finish is tightly wound and persistent with an underlying mineral tension.
Grapes are harvested from the estate vineyard and vinified using minimalist techniques, with careful attention to preserving primary fruit character and natural acidity. The wine is aged on its lees to build texture and complexity before bottling.
The Double L Estate Vineyard sits at the northern end of the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA, planted in 1997 and the only certified organic vineyard in the appellation. Rows run north to south to optimize wind exposure and even ripening across the site. The vineyard sits at elevation on the western slopes of the Santa Lucia range, where cold Pacific air funnels in daily through the Salinas Valley, keeping temperatures low and acidity high through a long, slow growing season.
