Grapes
100% Zinfandel. Sourced from the estate's Giuseppe & Luisa Vineyard in the Russian River Valley, using the prized Jackass Hill clone budwood from the family's historic, century-old vines.
Farming
The fruit is grown on certified sustainable vineyards featuring Huichica clay and hard-pan soils. The vines are densely planted (approx. 2,000 vines/acre) to a high standard of quality, with the cool Russian River Valley climate providing a long, balanced growing season.
Winemaking
The grapes undergo fermentation with native yeast. The wine completes full malolactic conversion and is aged for 11 months in French oak, with a significant portion (40%) being new oak. It is aged on the lees with daily batonage for added richness and texture.
Tasting Notes
Presents an expressive and plush profile. The wine offers pure scents of black cherry, raspberry, baking spice, and potpourri. The palate is full-bodied and juicy with layered flavors of red cherries and huckleberry, framed by savory, toasted spice notes and polished tannins, leading to a long finish.
