Aromas of cassis, black raspberry, crushed violets, graphite, and dried herbs lead into a dense, full-bodied palate. Flavors of mulberry, black olive, game meat, and tobacco leaf mesh with hints of cedar and chalky minerality. The texture is rich and velvety, framed by structured, chalky tannins and energetic natural acidity through a long, peppery finish.
A Syrah-led blend incorporating Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Hand-harvested from low-yielding blocks and meticulously sorted. The fruit is fermented in small temperature-controlled tanks and ages for roughly 18 to 21 months in French oak barrels (majority new) alongside small concrete and amphora vessels to preserve fruit vibrancy and site signature. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Grapes are grown at the estate vineyard in the Willow Creek District of west side Paso Robles. Steep hillside slopes feature complex soils of ancient marine shale and limestone. High elevations and dramatic diurnal temperature swings slow the ripening process, balancing intense fruit power with high natural acidity.
