Aromas of tart red cherry, dried violet, crushed gravel, and blond tobacco lead into a focused, structured palate. Flavors of red plum, pomegranate, dried sage, and orange rind mesh with an underlying note of bitter cocoa and iron. The texture is taut and chalky, anchored by high, bright natural acidity and firm, fine-grained tannins that stretch through a savory, mineral finish. In magnum, the aging process slows slightly, giving the fruit exceptional freshness and tension.
Farmed using certified organic practices. Made from 100% Sangiovese, hand-harvested from estate parcels. The grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with at least two weeks of skin contact. The wine ages for 18 months in French oak barrels (Tronçais and Allier) before bottling, building structure and refining the grape's natural tannin.
Grapes are grown in the high-elevation Conca d'Oro valley of Panzano in Chianti. Situated in a south-facing natural amphitheater, the vineyards feature clay-limestone galestro soils. The combination of intense daytime sunlight, cool night air, and warm, stony soils produces grapes with deep structural complexity and balanced acidity.
