Aromas of black cherry, wild raspberry, damp earth, crushed violet, and game lead into a concentrated, medium-bodied palate. Flavors of dark plum, licorice, iron, and subtle baking spice mesh with a core of gravelly minerality. The texture is broad and fleshy yet tightly structured, supported by ripe, firm-grained tannins and energetic natural acidity through a long, muscular finish.
Grapes are hand-harvested from old vines, rigorously sorted, and entirely destemmed. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled open-top vats using indigenous yeasts, accompanied by traditional punch-downs and pump-overs. The wine ages for 15 to 18 months in French oak barrels (roughly 30 percent new) on fine lees without racking until assembly, before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Grapes are sourced from the 1er Cru Les Bousselots vineyard, situated just north of the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits. Positioned on a gentle east-facing slope, the site features deep, well-draining soils composed of clay, limestone scree, and gravelly alluvium from the nearby Meuzin valley. The terroir balances generous solar exposure with cool nocturnal air currents, yielding plush fruit weight backed by prominent structural frame.
