Aromas of cassis, black plum, dried violet, and graphite lead into a concentrated, full-bodied palate. Flavors of dark cherry, paprika, cedar, and crushed leaf mesh with subtle black pepper and bitter chocolate. The texture is broad and seamless, supported by ultra-fine, polished tannins and integrated acidity that carry into a long, savory finish.
Farmed organically and biodynamically across ancient, ungrafted vines averaging 80 years of age. A blend of 68% Carménère, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Merlot, grapes are entirely hand-destemmed berry by berry. Fermentation occurs with native yeasts in wooden vats, and the wine ages for nearly 21 months in French oak barrels (around 70% new) using a multi-story, gravity-flow cellar.
Grapes are grown in the Apalta Valley within Colchagua. Nestled in a horseshoe-shaped amphitheater of steep granitic hillsides along the Tinguiririca River, the site features ancient weathered granite and clay soils. The cool, late-ripening 2022 vintage provided balanced heat and extended hang time, preserving fresh aromatic lift alongside deep fruit intensity.
