Aromas of black cherry and cassis integrate with notes of cedar, pencil lead, and dried herbs. The palate features a dense core of dark fruit and firm, fine-grained tannins that persist through a structured finish.

Sustainable farming and hand-harvesting precede a fermentation in stainless steel tanks to maintain fruit purity. The wine matures for twenty months in French oak barrels, using 30% new wood to add complexity without overpowering the mountain character.

Forman Vineyard produces this wine from estate sites on the lower slopes of Howell Mountain in Napa Valley. The vineyards sit on well-drained volcanic soils, specifically a mix of gravel and white volcanic ash known as tufa, which provides excellent drainage and mineral tension.
