Aromas of pineapple, apricot, and honey open to a bright, sweet palate with candied citrus, ripe peach, and mango. A lively acidity keeps the sweetness in check throughout, carrying the wine to a clean, fruit-forward finish without heaviness.
The blend is 90% Sémillon, 7% Sauvignon Blanc, and 3% Muscadelle, harvested at a final yield of just 7 hectoliters per hectare following multiple passes through the vineyard to select botrytized fruit. The wine is vinified and aged for 24 months in oak barrels before bottling.
Château Broustet is a Second Growth estate in Barsac, the northern sub-appellation of Sauternes situated on the left bank of the Ciron River. The vineyards sit on siliceous gravel over clay and limestone subsoils, a combination that retains moisture while encouraging the morning mists from the Ciron that foster botrytis cinerea, the noble rot responsible for the wine's concentrated sweetness and complexity.
