Aromas of pomegranate, blueberry, orange bitters, wildflowers, and mossy bark lead into a concentrated, medium-bodied palate. Flavors of dark cherry, red currant, cardamon, and grilled herbs mesh with a distinct saline, crushed-stone minerality. The texture is dense and velvety, supported by abundant, fine-grained tannins and bright, cooling natural acidity through a long, muscular, spice-tinged finish.
Grapes are hand-harvested and fully destemmed without crushing into stainless steel and open-top oak fermenters. Following a five-day cold soak, fermentation starts naturally using indigenous yeasts with manual punch-downs twice daily. The wine ages for 14 months in French oak barrels (30 percent new) before being bottled unfined.
Grapes are sourced from six organically farmed blocks in the northern section of the Justice Vineyard, located in the Eola-Amity Hills. Situated adjacent to the estate's home site, the vineyard rests on a thin layer of volcanic topsoil covering an uplifted bed of ancient marine sediment. The site receives direct oceanic winds through the Van Duzer Corridor, cooling the vines and preserving structural acidity.
