2021 Semi-Precious Syrah

Aromas of fresh violets, cracked black pepper, and blueberry pie integrate with hints of vanilla and toffee. The palate features a silky, elegant texture with bright acidity that balances its rich fruit density and supple tannins.

Sustainable farming of old vines in the high-altitude vineyards of Campo de Borja precedes a fermentation directed by Norrel Robertson MW. The wine matures in used Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon barrels, a signature of the Southern Belle project. This aging process is carefully timed to add complexity through notes of spice and caramel without allowing the bourbon character to dominate the varietal integrity of the Syrah.

The fruit is sourced from the Campo de Borja region in Aragon, Spain. This area is defined by its Cierzo winds and rugged terrain where Syrah thrives in limestone-rich soils. The high elevation provides a significant temperature shift between day and night, ensuring the wine maintains its focus and precision despite its power.
