Aromas of black cherry, wild raspberry, and violet integrate with savory notes of smoked wood, roasted meat, and black pepper. The palate is medium-bodied and exceptionally vibrant, featuring a core of succulent red fruit and a transparent, fluid texture. It displays fine, crunchy tannins and a racy acidity that leads to a long finish marked by notes of apricot, licorice, and a cool mineral lift.
The winemaking team utilizes 100% Syrah, specifically a historical biotype known as Serine, which is prized for its small berries and intense aromatic complexity. In the cellar, the fruit is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks using native yeasts to preserve its fresh, varietal character. The wine matures in a combination of large oak barrels and stainless steel, a process that allows the structural elements to soften while keeping the primary fruit and spicy, floral nuances in clear focus.
The fruit is grown in the Côte-Rôtie appellation of the Northern Rhône, specifically from steep, terraced vineyards in the commune of Ampuis. The site is defined by its vertical, south-facing hillsides and granite-rich soils, which provide excellent drainage and impart a distinct mineral signature to the wine. These ancient vineyards benefit from intense sunshine and the cooling influence of northerly winds, a unique microclimate that encourages slow ripening and produces a wine with remarkable finesse and tension.
