Aromas of crème de cassis, black raspberry, and graphite integrate with notes of lavender, tobacco leaf, and a hint of sandalwood. The palate is full-bodied and exceptionally seamless, featuring a dense core of dark fruit and a multidimensional, velvety texture. It displays structural power through ultra-fine tannins and a lifting acidity that leads to an incredibly long finish marked by savory mineral notes and sweet spice.
Winemakers Alejandro Bulgheroni and Philippe Melka utilize 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the valley’s most iconic site. In the cellar, the fruit undergoes meticulous sorting and is fermented in a combination of French oak puncheons and stainless steel using native yeasts. This allows for deep extraction of color and flavor while maintaining aromatic precision. The wine matures for twenty months in 100% new French oak, a process that provides the necessary frame for the massive fruit concentration without obscuring the vineyard’s distinct character.
The fruit is grown in the Oakville AVA of Napa Valley at the world-renowned Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard. The site is defined by its ancient riverbed history, featuring gravelly loam soils that offer perfect drainage and low vine vigor. These historic blocks sit on a gentle alluvial fan at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains, benefiting from intense afternoon sun and the cooling influence of the evening fog. This legendary terroir is prized for producing wines with a rare combination of power, opulence, and an unmistakable mineral signature.
