2021 Chandra Kurt 'Glou Glou' Chasselas
What it Tastes Like

Aromas of fresh golden apple, white peach, and spring meadow flowers integrate with delicate notes of wet stone, yeast, and a hint of white pepper. The palate is light-bodied and exceptionally crisp, featuring a bright core of orchard fruit and a gentle, natural spritz. It displays a rounded yet airy texture with a refreshing acidity that leads to a clean, bone-dry finish marked by a subtle almond bitterness and a touch of alpine mineral coolness.

How it’s Made

Winemaker Chandra Kurt utilizes 100% Chasselas grapes, a variety she has spent decades championing. In the cellar, the fruit is fermented using native yeasts in stainless steel tanks to maintain the wine's primary fruit energy and crystalline purity. To achieve the "Glou Glou" style, the wine is bottled early and remains on its fine lees for a short period, which adds a light creaminess to the mid-palate without sacrificing its lean structure. This minimal-intervention approach focuses on low alcohol and high drinkability, resulting in a vibrant, unfiltered expression that captures the raw spirit of the harvest.

Where it’s From

The fruit is grown in the Vaud region of Switzerland, specifically from vineyards overlooking Lake Geneva. The site is defined by its steep, terraced slopes and diverse glacial soils, including gravel and limestone, which provide the ideal drainage for the Chasselas grape. These vineyards benefit from "three suns": the direct sunlight, the reflection off the lake, and the heat retained by the ancient stone walls of the terraces. The 2021 vintage in Switzerland was characterized by a cooler growing season, which enhanced the wine's natural acidity and delicate floral aromatics, making it a perfect example of the high-altitude freshness typical of the Alps.
