Aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and crushed rock integrate with deep notes of tobacco, leather, and exotic spice. The palate is full-bodied and powerful, featuring a dense, velvety texture and a core of dark fruit balanced by fine-grained tannins and a lingering, balsamic-tinged finish.
The team at Tua Rita utilizes high-density planting and meticulous manual harvesting to ensure fruit concentration. In the cellar, the blend—predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Cabernet Franc—undergoes fermentation in temperature-controlled oak vats using native yeasts. The wine matures for 18 months in French oak barriques, the majority of which are new, to provide the necessary structure and polish for its long-aging potential.
The fruit is grown on the estate's original vineyards in Suvereto, located in the Alta Maremma region of coastal Tuscany. The site is defined by its "metalliferous" soils, rich in iron and zinc, which are unique to this specific stretch of the Tyrrhenian coast. These mineral-heavy soils, combined with the constant sea breezes and intense Mediterranean sun, provide the wine with its characteristic savory depth and a structural intensity that rivals the best of Bolgheri.
