Aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and violet open to a medium-bodied palate with dark berry fruit, a subtle anise note, and a thread of dusty earthiness. The tannins are supple and fine-grained, the acidity lively and balanced, leading to a dry, persistent finish with a gentle spice that lingers.
Grapes are hand-selected from four distinct valley sites and fermented separately before blending. The wine is aged for 22 months in a combination of new and used 500-liter oak barrels, a measured approach that adds structure and texture without masking the fruit. The blend is 45% Kékfrankos, 19% Cabernet Franc, 18% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 8% Kadarka.
Szekszárd sits in southern Hungary on rolling loess-covered hills between the Mecsek Hills to the west and the Danube to the east, a continental climate shaped by erosional valleys and a range of distinct microclimates. Bikavér, meaning "Bull's Blood," is a protected designation unique to Szekszárd and Eger, and the Szekszárd style is defined by the mandatory inclusion of Kadarka, which gives it a spicier, more aromatic character than its northern counterpart. The 'Mozaik' name reflects the wine's construction: fruit drawn from the Iván, Porkoláb, Bencze, and Görögszó valleys, each contributing a distinct piece to the whole.
