Aromas of Meyer lemon, poached pear, and honeysuckle integrate with rich notes of toasted brioche and flint. The palate is full-bodied and textured, featuring a dense core of citrus oil and baked apple flavors. It is balanced by a surprisingly firm acidity and a persistent, creamy finish that highlights the wine's concentration and weight.
The Martinelli family utilizes sustainable farming for these vines, which are clones planted from the famous Jack London Vineyard. In the cellar, the fruit is fermented using only native yeasts in French oak barrels. The wine undergoes 100% malolactic fermentation and is aged on its lees for ten months in 50% new French oak. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve the natural density and aromatic complexity of the site.
The fruit is sourced from the Zio Tony Ranch, located in the heart of the Russian River Valley. This vineyard is defined by its Goldridge sandy loam soils, which are prized for providing excellent drainage and imparting a refined silken texture to the wine. The site sits in a cool pocket that benefits from regular morning fog and afternoon breezes, allowing the Chardonnay to reach full phenolic ripeness while maintaining the structural tension necessary to support its richness.
