Aromas of blackcurrant, dark plum, and forest floor integrate with notes of tobacco and toasted spice. The palate is full-bodied and exceptionally concentrated, featuring a dense core of dark fruit and a structured, muscular texture. It displays firm, velvety tannins and a bright acidity that leads to a long finish marked by savory herbs and a cool mineral lift.
Winemakers utilize a traditional Southwest blend of Tannat, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. In the cellar, the fruit undergoes a long fermentation and maceration to extract deep color and firm structure. The wine matures for 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels, allowing the robust tannins to soften and the complex spicy notes to integrate with the bold primary fruit.
The fruit is grown in the Saint-Mont appellation of Gascogne in Southwest France. The site is defined by its unique terroir of "tawny sands" and variegated clays on steep, sun-drenched hillsides. These ancient vineyards benefit from the cooling influence of the Pyrenees Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, which helps maintain the natural acidity needed to balance the power and intensity of the Tannat grape.
