Aromas of blackberry, dark plum, black cherry, and subtle tobacco lead into a full-bodied, concentrated palate. Flavors of dark fruit jam, cocoa, and sweet spice mesh with an underlying savory earthiness. The texture is velvety and broad, supported by firm tannins and vibrant natural acidity on a long finish.
Farmed organically and harvested by hand. De-stemmed grapes undergo a 48-hour cold pre-fermentation maceration, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation on the skins with daily pump-overs. The wine undergoes full malolactic fermentation and ages for 12 months in 20-hectoliter Slavonian oak casks, followed by 6 months of bottle aging before release.
Grapes are sourced from a single vineyard site in Bionzo, located in the village of Costigliole d'Asti within Piedmont’s Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOCG. The vines grow on sun-exposed, rolling hills in the Monferrato district, where clay and limestone soils contribute to rich fruit concentration and structural freshness.
