Aromas of dark cherry and wild strawberry integrate with notes of rose petal and savory spice. The palate is defined by a firm structure and balanced acidity that carries through a long, nuanced finish.
Sustainable farming and hand-harvesting precede a fermentation using 100% whole clusters to add structure and spicy aromatics. The wine matures for twenty-four months in new French oak barrels from the François Frères cooperage before being bottled unfiltered.
The late Jim Clendenen created this cuvée by selecting the best barrels from several top-tier vineyards across California, including sites in the Santa Maria and Santa Ynez Valleys. These vineyards are characterized by cool coastal climates and diverse soils ranging from sandy loam to marine shale.
