Aromas of ripe pear, yellow grapefruit, honeysuckle, and toasted brioche lead into a full-bodied, complex palate. Concentrated flavors of buttered orchard fruit, lemon curd, and anise mesh with hints of green almond, vanilla, and crushed rock minerality. The texture is broad and multi-dimensional, framed by a lively, integrated acidity that tempers the wine's rich power and carries through a long, clean finish.
Hand-harvested Chardonnay is barrel-fermented using native yeasts. Winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown ages the wine for 14 months in French oak barrels (25% to 40% new). The wine is crafted with minimal intervention to allow the vineyard's natural depth and structural intensity to take center stage before bottling.
Grapes are sourced from the UV-El Diablo Vineyard, located along Eastside Road in the Russian River Valley. Planted in 2008 by renowned viticulturist Ulises Valdez, the site features densely spaced vines growing in gravelly soils. Warm afternoon sunshine drives deep flavor concentration, while morning river fogs maintain fresh natural acidity and mineral focus.
