2019 Long Shadows 'Chester Kidder' Red Wine

Aromas of dark plum, blackberry skin, pipe tobacco, and sweet toasted spice lead into a bold, full-bodied palate. Rich flavors of black cherry, fresh fig, and salted licorice mesh with notes of cocoa powder, graphite, and cedar. The texture is lush and expansive on entry, supported by dense, chalky tannins and a vibrant, mineral-tinged finish.

The blend is composed of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Syrah, and 3% Petit Verdot. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented in individual lots using gentle extraction techniques to preserve varietal distinction. Crafted by winemaking director Gilles Nicault, the wine rests for 30 months in 85% new French oak barrels to build structure and polish the mid-palate before bottling.

Grapes are sourced from high-caliber vineyard plots across Columbia Valley in Washington. The vines grow in sandy, gravelly, and volcanic soils deposited by ancient glacial floods. Warm daytime sun allows the Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah to reach full phenolic maturation, while cool desert night temperatures preserve natural acidity and balance.
