Aromas of chocolate-covered cherries, toasted almond, clove, and kirsch lead into a massive, full-bodied palate. Concentrated flavors of blueberry, black plum, and cassis blend with savory accents of fresh tobacco, black olive, and crushed stone. The texture is broad and opulently layered, backed by ultra-smooth, polished tannins and an exceptionally long, vanillin-tinged finish.
Hand-harvested Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc before undergoing fermentation in oak vats to build structural depth. Crafted by winemakers Philippe Melka and Michel Rolland, the wine ages for 20 months in French oak barrels (around 68% new) to integrate the dense fruit with refined, sweet wood spice before bottling.
Grapes are sourced entirely from the historic Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard in the St. Helena sub-appellation of Napa Valley. Situated on an ancient riverbed near the base of the Mayacamas Mountains, the site features gravelly, well-draining soils rich in dark stone and alluvial deposit. This unique geology radiates heat to ripen the fruit fully while giving the wine its trademark minerality and deep structural core.
