Aromas of tart red cherry, pomegranate, violet, light balsam, and eucalyptus lead into a medium-bodied, savory palate. Flavors of red currant, wild plum, dried oregano, and crushed brick mesh with a faint brush of rustic leather and graphite. The texture is taut and structured, supported by fine, integrated tannins and high-toned, mouthwatering natural acidity through a long, mineral-driven finish.
Grapes are hand-harvested from certified organic vines and spontaneously fermented using only native yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats with 15 to 20 days of skin maceration. The wine ages for up to 12 months in large, ten-year-old 2,000-liter French oak casks (botte) alongside a small portion in lined concrete and stainless steel tanks. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with minimal added sulfur to preserve pure fruit character and terroir definition.
Grapes are sourced from estate vineyards situated in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, located at the northernmost border of the Chianti Classico DOCG just nine kilometers south of Florence. Planted at an elevation of 250 meters, the vines root into cold galestro soils composed of loose marl, clay, sand, and limestone along with river pebbles. The cooler northern mesoclimate and well-draining mineral soils combine to yield a fresh, floral, and bright expression of the zone.
