Aromas of dried rose petal, violet, ripe red cherry, leather, and warm baking spices lead into an ample, elegant palate. Flavors of black cherry, cranberry, star anise, forest floor, and subtle tar mesh with a savory, earthy core. The texture is round and velvety, supported by fine-grained tannins and vibrant natural acidity through a long, polished finish.
Hand-harvested from mature Nebbiolo vines averaging 40 years of age. Fermentation and a 10-day maceration take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine ages for 24 months in large oak casks (ranging from 20 to 100 hectoliters) to foster gradual oxidation without overpowering the delicate floral aromatics, followed by an additional 12 months of refinement in bottle prior to release.
Grapes are sourced from five distinct vineyard sites spread across key communes of the Barolo appellation, including Barolo, Grinzane Cavour, and Monforte d'Alba (utilizing parcels in Brunate, Liste, Cerequio, Cannubi, and Raviole). The sites feature south and southeast exposures at elevations around 1,050 feet. The combination of calcareous-clay soils across these varied microclimates yields a balanced, harmonious, region-wide expression of Nebbiolo.
