Aromas of fresh cassis, dark plum preserves, violets, and crushed rose petals lead into a layered, full-bodied palate. Flavors of black raspberry and cherry mesh with hints of pencil shavings, sweet tobacco, and dried sage. The texture is silky yet concentrated, anchored by ultra-fine, powdery tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, saline-tinged finish.
The blend is composed of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot, representing just 37% of the estate's total harvest. Grapes undergo temperature-controlled fermentation in a mix of traditional oak vats and stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak barrels before bottling.
Grapes are grown on the organically farmed Premier Grand Cru Classé estate in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux's Left Bank. The vines are planted in deep, well-draining gravel deposits layered over clay and limestone subsoils near the Gironde Estuary. The proximity to the estuary tempers extreme weather, allowing the Cabernet-dominant fruit to achieve long, slow phenolic ripening while maintaining aromatic precision.
