2018 Robert Sinskey Vineyards 'POV' Red Wine

Aromas of dark plum, black cherry, and wild thyme integrate with savory notes of cedar, loose tobacco, and cocoa powder. The palate is medium-bodied and supple, featuring a core of black currant, baking spices, and a touch of graphite. It displays fine-grained, well-integrated tannins and a bright acidity that leads to a balanced, savory finish marked by a lingering hint of forest floor.

This Right Bank Bordeaux-style blend is composed of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The organically grown grapes are night-harvested, destemmed, and fermented with indigenous yeasts. The wine matures for nearly two years in French oak barrels, a portion of which are new, before being bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve its natural structure and plush texture.

The fruit is grown in the Los Carneros AVA of Napa Valley, California, an area typically associated with cooler-climate varieties but uniquely suited to early-ripening Bordeaux grapes. The estate vineyards are defined by shallow, calcium-rich clay loam soils and consistent cooling breezes from the San Pablo Bay. This specific maritime climate prevents over-ripening, allowing the fruit to maintain the vibrant acidity and structural elegance essential for an old-world style blend.
