Aromas of crème de cassis, ripe blueberries, violets, and tobacco leaf lead into a full-bodied, multi-layered palate. Concentrated flavors of black currant, dark chocolate, and mocha mesh with notes of crushed rock and dried rose petal. The texture is dense and polished, supported by firm, fine-grained tannins and a long, savory finish.
The blend brings together roughly equal parts Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Hand-harvested fruit ferments in small lots using native yeasts and gentle extraction methods. Crafted by viticulturist Annie Favia and winemaker Andy Erickson, the wine rests for nearly two years in French oak barrels (about half new) before bottling without heavy intervention.
Grapes are sourced entirely from the high-elevation Oakville Ranch Vineyard, situated on the steep eastern slopes of Oakville in Napa Valley. The vines grow in iron-rich, red volcanic clay and fractured basalt soils. Abundant sunshine and morning elevation above the valley floor fog allow both Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon to achieve complete phenolic maturity while retaining distinct structural balance.
