Aromas of cedar, tobacco, and black currant integrate with notes of violet and warm gravel. The palate is medium-bodied and classic in structure, featuring a core of dark plum and blackberry fruit that is balanced by fine-grained tannins and a persistent, savory finish.
The Meffre family utilizes sustainable farming for their 43 hectares of vines, which average 25 years of age. In the cellar, the blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot undergoes a traditional fermentation in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel vats. The wine matures for 12 months in French oak barrels, with 40% new oak used to provide a subtle spice and structure without overshadowing the fruit's Médoc character.
The fruit is grown on a single block of vines located between the prestigious estates of Château Beychevelle and Château Ducru-Beaucaillou in the Saint-Julien AOC. The site is defined by its deep Garonne gravel soils, which offer excellent drainage and reflect heat to the grapes. This specific geology, combined with the proximity to the Gironde estuary, provides the wine with its characteristic elegance and refined mineral tension.
