Aromas of dark plum, creme de cassis, dried herbs, and dark chocolate lead into a full, opulent palate. Dense flavors of blackberry jam and roasted coffee bean blend with notes of baking spice, sweet vanilla, and toasted oak. The texture is broad and fleshy, supported by sturdy, fine-grained tannins and a long, warm finish.
Hand-harvested Cabernet Sauvignon, blended with a tiny portion of Cabernet Franc, undergoes a prolonged maceration on the skins to build color, depth, and structural complexity. The wine is aged for 20 months in custom-toasted French oak barrels, the vast majority of which are new, to integrate the intense fruit with polished oak wood tannins before bottling.
Grapes are sourced from premier mountain and valley-floor vineyard sites across Napa Valley, including the St. Helena Home, Bancroft, and Steinhauer properties. The vines grow in well-draining, rocky volcanic soils across Spring Mountain and Howell Mountain, alongside deep alluvial loam on the valley floor. This mix of terrain allows the fruit to develop deep concentration, strong structural tannins, and rich aromatic depth.
