Aromas of stargazer lily, ripe pear, yellow nectarine, and lemon custard lead into an elegant, medium-to-full-bodied palate. Flavors of fresh pineapple, white peach, and baked apple mesh with underlying notes of toasted brioche, crushed quartz, and light baking spice. The texture is opulent and round, balanced by high mountain acidity and a long, saline, mineral-tinged finish.
Hand-harvested Chardonnay is whole-cluster pressed and barrel-fermented using native yeasts. The wine undergoes complete malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels (47% new) with monthly lees stirring to build richness and mouthfeel. It ages on its fine lees for 11 months before bottling without heavy manipulation.
Grapes are sourced entirely from the historic Upper Barn Vineyard, planted in 1982 high on the western slopes of the Mayacamas Mountain Range above Alexander Valley. Situated at 1,800 feet in elevation, the site features rocky, volcanic mountain soils. The high altitude keeps the vines exposed to strong sunlight during the day while cool mountain air preserves bright natural acidity and structural transparency.
