What it Tastes Like

Aromas of dark plum, blackberry, cassis, pine forest underbrush, and crushed rock lead into a concentrated, full-bodied palate. Flavors of ripe black cherry, dried fig, marjoram, and cocoa mesh with a distinct damp earth and limestone minerality. The texture is broad and velvety, supported by firm, fine-grained tannins and vibrant natural freshness through a long, polished, savory finish.

How it’s Made

Grapes are hand-harvested from head-trained old vines and strictly sorted before undergoing spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in French oak vats. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrels before aging for 16 months in oak (80 percent French and 20 percent American oak barrels), followed by extended bottle resting prior to release to integrate its tannic structure.

Where it’s From

Grapes are sourced from small, head-trained bush-vine plots averaging 70 years of age around La Horra and Roa in the Burgos province of Spain's DO Ribera del Duero. Perched on high-elevation laderas (slopes) characterized by shallow limestone, clay, and chalk soils, the vineyards benefit from extreme diurnal temperature swings and intense sunlight, yielding small berries with deep phenolic concentration and exceptional structural balance.
