This Cabernet presents aromas of cassis, black cherry, and plum with hints of tobacco leaf and iron-rich earth. The palate is concentrated with dark fruit and savory spice, supported by firm tannins and fresh acidity, finishing long and poised.
Composed of 88 % Cabernet Sauvignon and 12 % Petit Verdot, the 2014 vintage was hand-harvested and fermented with native yeasts and full malolactic fermentation. After fermentation the wine aged about 25 months sur lies in new French oak barrels, with periodic stirring to integrate tannins and wood.
Produced by Ramey Wine Cellars from the Pedregal Vineyard on the lower slopes of eastern Oakville in Napa Valley, California. The small, rocky site features iron-rich basalt soils, and Ramey has leased and farmed the vineyard directly since 2008.
