Rob Sinskey has long occupied a unique place in Napa Valley. While many producers pursued bigger, richer, more heavily extracted styles over the past several decades, Sinskey focused instead on elegance, restraint, and wines designed with food in mind.
This tasting explores several expressions of that philosophy through a lineup that moves well beyond the typical expectations of Napa Valley wine.
We’ll begin with Abraxas, the winery’s Rhône-inspired white blend, alongside the bright and refreshing Vin Gris of Pinot Noir. From there, the tasting moves into the textured and aromatic Orgia, an orange wine that reflects the winery’s experimental and old-world influences, before finishing with Los Carneros Pinot Noir and P.O.V., a deeper Bordeaux-inspired blend that still maintains the freshness and balance central to the RSV style.
Underlying every wine is the farming philosophy that has defined the estate for decades. Long before sustainability became a marketing term, RSV embraced organic and biodynamic farming practices rooted in the belief that expressive wines begin with healthy soils and a balanced ecosystem.
Together, the wines offer a compelling look at a producer whose influence on Napa Valley extends far beyond the bottle.
