Saint Vincent is the patron saint of winegrowers and protector of vines.
Right bank Bordeaux 78% Merlot | 21% Cabernet Franc | 1% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Just below the picturesque village of Saint Emilion – which was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites in December 1999 – the Clos Saint-Vincent team manages 16 hectares of vines to produce three wines: Clos Saint-Vincent, Château Moine Vieux and Château La Rose Bigaroux.
The proximity of the medieval village gives the estate considerable charm.
Its name is another nod to the region’s rich past: Saint Vincent is the patron saint of winegrowers and protector of vines. The property’s vineyard consists of a homogeneous terroir with a vein of gravel running through it, which gives the tannins a silky character. This unusual feature of the soil is the reason behind the pure expression of the estate’s three wines. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon complement each other in the polished dialogue that characterizes grand cru wines.
Clos Saint-Vincent offers inviting aromatics of ripe black cherries and blackberries, which come together with spring florals, toast, exotic spices and hints of mineral nuances all taking shape. On the palate this is medium-bodied and beautifully polished. It possesses a core driven by dark fruits which is framed by lovely underlying minerality, that continues into the finish. This is an excellent wine that is already expressive, and will likely continue to age well over the course of the next decade
