2017 Bouchard Père & Fils ‘Réserve’ Bourgogne Pinot Noir
Wine Spectator 90: An alluring red, elegant and pure, delivering cherry, strawberry and smoky mineral aromas and flavors. Turns a bit leaner on the finish, yet stays long, with a hint of spice. Drink now through 2024.
2015 Bien Nacido Estate ‘LXXIII Reserve’ Pinot Noir$95.00WA 94WE 96VN 94Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 94: There are 127 cases of the lovely 2015 Bien Nacido Vineyard LXXIII Pinot Noir, which offers up a deep-pitched bouquet of crushed cassis, cracked pepper and nori that's a bit darker and more brooding than usual, without the suggestions of the candied peel and Christmas cake that this often displays. On the palate, it's medium bodied, concentrated and structured around a fine-grained chassis of tannin and juicy acids. Give this youthfully tight-knit Pinot Noir a few years in the cellar, then follow it for a decade.Wine Enthusiast 96: Intense cranberry aromas meet with smoked pork roast, crushed slate and pinches of sage, thyme and white pepper on the nose of this luxury-level bottling. The palate is florally flush in touches of rose and tarragon, set against snappy red-plum fruit and racy acidity.Vinous 94: The 2015 Pinot Noir LXXIII Bien Nacido Vineyards is gorgeous. Inky blue and purplish fruit, licorice, menthol, sage, violet and lavender infuse the 2015, a wine of extreme richness and unctuosity. It will be fascinating to see how the 2015 develops during its aging. The 2015 is dense and rich, with an almost Syrah-like element of savoriness on the finish.
2014 Casas del Bosque ‘Gran Bosque Private Reserva’ Cabernet Sauvignon$66.00WS 94Wine Spectator 94: Big, rich and filled with powerful red fruit and savory flavors that are supported by medium-grained tannins. Shows concentrated dark chocolate and creamy notes on the plush and well-spiced finish. Delivers impressive concentration and length. Drink now through 2022. 800 cases made.
2014 Wayfarer ‘Golden Mean’ Pinot Noir$120.00WA 94JD 94WE 97Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 94: Dark, brooding cinnamon and fleshy black plum provide an exciting, complex counterpoint to the rakish earthiness and exotic Asian spice going on in this full-bodied, explosively compelling wine, its minerality lingering. It's young and still tightly coiled, with lingering minerality; let it open to enjoy now, but it would show best after some time, so cellar through 2024. Cellar SelectionJeb Dunnick 94: A blend that's made from a mix of Pommard and Swan, the 2014 Pinot Noir Golden Mean is another sensational 2014. Incredibly perfumed, with raspberry, violets, peach and floral notes, this beauty is elegant, seamless and pure on the palate, with the good acidity, and a seamlessness that's hard to believe. It picks up more spice and forest floor notes with time in the glass, has a big core of sweet fruit, and impeccable overall balance. It’s great today, but will easily continue drinking nicely through 2026.Wine Enthusiast 97: Dark, brooding cinnamon and fleshy black plum provide an exciting, complex counterpoint to the rakish earthiness and exotic Asian spice going on in this full-bodied, explosively compelling wine, its minerality lingering.
