There’s a real sense of depth and detail here with fresh cherries and blueberries, swathed in vanilla-dusted violets, fresh-cut roasting herbs and biscuit spices. The palate has a very plush and smoothly rendered feel with a long, smooth and seamless run of ripe blueberries and cherries. Concentrated and elegant pinot with a long, long finish. Drink across the next decade.
Tasting Notes ~
This 2016 Morgon MC2 comes from 40 year old vines - two sources Charmes and Corcelette - planted on sand and schist with a subsoil of decomposed rock and clay. Whole cluster fermentation lasts for 20 days in concrete and 40 percent of the cuvée is matured in neutral oak for 10 months, resulting in a dark, mineral driven and longlived style of Beaujolais perfect for pairing with game birds and hearty grains.

A dark-fruited nose with plums and blackberries, as well as black truffle and earthy notes. The palate has a supple and even thread of blueberry flavor and supple, layered tannins. A blend of 89 per cent cabernet sauvignon with some merlot, syrah and cabernet franc. Drink or hold.
