    Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 90 ~ This sensational non-vintage Barcino Cava was made from a solera system where the dosage was started in the 1940s. A blend of 55 percent Xarello, 25 percent Macabeo and 20 percent Parellada, from vines planted in 1995, this crisp, delicious, dry sparkler spent 12 months on its lees. Attractive notes of honeyed brioche, poached pear and caramelized grapefruit jump from the glass of this zesty, light-bodied, exceptionally well-crafted, pure, fresh cava. Only 5,000 cases produced.

  • 2019 Finca Torremilanos ‘Ojo Gallo’ Clarete

    Tasting Notes ~ ‘Ojo Gallo’, Castellano for ‘rooster eye’ (in other words, what the French call ‘oeil de perdrix’), hearkens back to the traditional clarete style of the region. This light red is a field blend of very old vines of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Bobal, Monastrell, Viura, Albillo and Malvasia co-fermented in cement and raised for 8 months in used barrels before bottling without added sulfur for peak drinkability. Aromas of cranberry, wild cherry, scrub herb, and flowers jump from the glass, with a juicy palate offering prickly acidity and a wisp of tannic dryness. Absolutely delicious with a chill, though it can easily be enjoyed closer to room temperature.

    Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 91 ~ “The 2018 Black Slate Gratallops, a blend of Cariñena, Garnacha and Syrah, is part of the Black Slate series produced for American importer European Cellars. The varieties fermented separately with natural yeasts, and only 20% of the volume was put in oak barrels for 15 months. It has effervescent freshness and a mixture of red and black fruit with just a spicy twist and some peachy character. There is some rusticity on the palate along with earthy tannins, giving it the profile of a classical Priorat.”

    Tasting Notes ~ A Certified Organic and Demeter Certified Biodynamic family-owned and run estate in Ribera del Duero, Finca Torremilanos is comprised of 200 hectares of vineyards planted on quality land that has supported viticulture for over 100 years. This is 100 percent Tempranillo of average vine age between 10 and 20 years. Fermentation takes 9 days and malolactic occurs in 80 percent stainless steel and 20 percent in barrel. With ripe red fruit flavors with structured tannins, this over-delivers in quality for the price.

    2018 Bodega Bernabeleva ‘Camino de Navaherreros’

    Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 90 ~ The young red 2018 Camino de Navaherreros comes from an extremely balanced vintage, when it rained when it was needed, the summer wasn't too warm and the wines turned out like a more complete version of the 2016s. To make a long story short, 2018 seems to be the finest Gredos vintage in the last few years, and that's quite evident in the Bernabeleva range, especially when tasted next to the 2017s. But there is no lack of ripeness here; the grapes ripened properly, and the wine has deep aromas and flavors, fine-grained tannins and some seriousness within its approachable style. A great vintage for Camino de Navaherreros.
