James Suckling 92: A super brambly red that has abundant rich and ripe, dark berry and cherry aromas. The palate is a riot of fresh dark berries and delivers a very plush, sweetly spiced, powder-dry finish. Drink or hold.

  • 2015 Pago de Valdoneje

    $15.99
    WA 91
Wine Advocate 91: The just bottled, unoaked, entry level red, a favorite among the young Mencías, is the 2015 Pago de Valdoneje; this wine shows the character of 2015, which was a warm, ripe vintage that provided concentrated wines. This is juicy, ripe, very attractive and heady, quite open and showy. It even made me think of a young Port, with some herbal aromas, not because it's heavy at all, as the palate is really balanced and is medium-bodied. Power, character and rustic elegance at very affordable prices.

Notes of tropical fruit, aniseed and fresh notes of jasmine, orange blossom, bitter herbs, citrus and white fruit. Delicately sweet, with a long, fruity finish. This wine has a beautiful clean, bright straw yellow colour with some golden tinges. Gregal d'Espiells is the prefect wine to pair with appetizers and light dishes.

  • 2017 Bodega Bernabeleva ‘Camino de Navaherreros’

    $19.00
Tasting Notes The intensely floral bouquet offers aromas of strawberry, raspberry, rose, magnolia, and Asian spices; similar to a rustic Pinot Noir, but the body an weight is very much old vine Grenache. Eighty-year-old vines offer fresh and energetic fruit in the mouth, with sweet red berry flavors unfettered by tannins. The spiciness is mirrored on the finish, which is long and very pure.

  • 2015 Casa Castillo ‘Las Gravas’

    $29.99
    WA 94
Wine Advocate 94: The 2015 Las Gravas is a classic Mediterranean blend of Monastrell with 15% each Garnacha and Syrah, with 15% alcohol after fermenting with part of full clusters and indigenous grapes and aging in used oak barrels for 19 months. 2015 is the last vintage that Las Gravas has some Syrah, as it adds some sweet fruit he wants to avoid. However, it shows fresh within the balsamic profile, with plenty of rosemary and thyme notes combined with floral undertones and the character of the esparto grass and tree bark that are textbook descriptors of the variety.

  • 2018 Ameztoi ‘Stimatum’

    $24.99
Tasting Notes Carbonic aromas on the nose of cranberry, redcurrant, strawberry, raspberry, clove, and licorice followed by a palate with very high acidity. The slight fizz adds even more vibrancy to lift the very firm tannins. Spicy and grainy, this is a surprising mouthful for a wine of just 12% ABV. Great barbeque wine.
