    2017 Xavier Gérard Côte-Rôtie

    $82.00
Tasting Notes ~ Xavier Gérard is a young guy farming about three hectares of Côte-Rôtie vines by hand (as if there were any other way) and vinifying wines in the most traditional manner possible. In his small cellar, fermentations are initiated by ambient yeasts and varying percentages of whole grape clusters are left in the must. The Côte-Rôtie is aged in large, used demi-muid barrels before bottling. This is a soulful, high-toned Syrah that perfectly captures what Côte-Rôtie is all about. In the glass, the wine reveals a deep purple-red core and expresses a breathtaking mosaic of elite Northern Rhône aromatics: grilled meat, sun-roasted brambleberries, tar, olive tapenade, freshly cracked pepper, ripe black cherries, Chambord, dried violets, and crushed hot stone.

Tasting Notes ~ The hands-off approach to this 100 percent Grenache noir show the beauty of these grapes - certified organic, hand harvested, native yeast fermentation in concrete tank and left to rest for 6 moths in concrete before bottling. Enjoy notes of blueberry, mild cracked white pepper, and a hint of lavender. Smooth and gentle tannins contribute to the complexity and richness of this lively, mildly spicy and fruit forward wine.

  • 2018 Prieuré de Montézargues Tavel Rosé

    $23.00
    WS 90
Tasting Notes ~ Tavel is the only all-Rose appellation in the Rhone of France. Said to be the only Rose that can actually age (and improve with age). It has been a favorite among royalty since the 18th century - said to be Lous XIV favorite style of wine. Tavel Rose is always dry with fleshy, round body structures (much like a light red wine) and blanched by acidity. Chateau La Nerthe is comprised of mostly of Grenache and Grenache Blanc as well as Syrah, Clairette, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Bourboulenc all hand harvested from the Estate vineyards that are certified organic. This vivid pink Tavel is extremely aromatic. The nose is complex with blood oranges and graphites notes enhanced with raspberry and peach character. The palate is juicy, with a chalky-mineral acidity and a bright and energetic finish.
