2018 Foradori Teroldego
$37.00Vinous 91 ~ The Foradori Teroldego always makes for a wonderful introduction to the brand. In fact, it was a vertical tasting of the Teroldego, a wine created in a fresh style from younger vines, yet still noble and age-worthy, that first won my heart - not the top-shelf Granato. The 2018 is no different. Here I’m finding a display of wild berry, fresh peppery herbs, violets, and crushed stone. It’s silky in texture, complemented by cool-toned red fruits and minerals, with just a hint of round tannin that provides grip. Inner florals resonate, while residual acids pinch at the taste buds. This is a powerful and thickly layered red wine that pushes the boundaries of extract and intensity, especially for a Tuscan red wine. 2017 Booker Vineyard ‘My Favorite Neighbor’
$70.00Jeb Dunnick 96 ~ The 2017 My Favorite Neighbor is also terrific and I suspect would cost 2-3 times its going rate if it was from Napa Valley. Classy notes of black raspberries, spice box, white flowers, lead pencil shavings, and tobacco leaf all emerge from the glass of this medium to full-bodied red, which offers a seamless texture, fine tannins, and a great finish. $70.00Jeb Dunnick 91 ~ This 2017 Châteauneuf-du-Pape offers a sunny, round, medium to full-bodied profile that’s already hard to resist. Lots of spice, kirsch, lavender, and garrigue notes, solid mid-palate depth, sweet tannins, and a great finish all make for an outstanding wine that’s capable of lasting for over a decade. -
2012 Château Léoville Poyferré Saint-Julien
$124.00Jeb Dunnick 94 ~ One of the more stacked, ripe and rockingly textured wines from the left bank, the 2012 Léoville Poyferré sports a deep ruby/purple color to go with terrific notes of crème de cassis, graphite, lead pencil shavings and violets. Rich, full-bodied, supple and forward, with low acidity and ripe tannin, give bottles 4-5 years (although it dishes out ample pleasure even today) and enjoy through 2037. -
2017 Mathias Parent Morey-Saint-Denis
$100.00Tasting Notes ~ This sports both red and dark berry fruit on the nose with a savory note coming through as well as a violet note. This features rich dark berry/blueberry fruit on the palate along with exotic spice notes and a flash of mineral. The long finish brings sappy, lush fruit back with mouthwatering freshness. -
2017 Domaine Johann Michel Cornas
$53.00Vinous 92 ~ Deep lurid ruby. Smoke-accented blackberry, cherry compote and violet qualities, along with a spicy nuance that builds in the glass. Shows very good depth as well as energy in the mouth, offering sweet blueberry, cherry and candied violet flavors that spread out slowly on the back half. Closes smooth and long, with repeating spice and floral qualities and gentle tannic grip. Made from de-stemmed fruit. -
2017 Occidental ‘Occidental Station Vineyard’ Pinot Noir
$105.00Jeb Dunnick 96 ~ Coming from a more inland vineyard that’s one of the first to be harvested, the 2017 Pinot Noir Occidental Station Vineyard sports a deeper ruby/purple color as well as a tighter yet intense style carrying lots of almost blue fruits, violets, peppery spice, and spring flowers. Despite showing ample power and richness, it has a vivid spine of acidity, ripe, present tannins, and a great finish, all pointing to a solid decade or more of prime drinking. I think it will show every more complexity with a year or two of bottle age. -
2017 Mathias Parent Vosne-Romanée
$103.00Tasting Notes ~ The nose here features hints of floral notes that give way to bursting red fruits and Asian spices. The fruit and exotic spice notes stack up on the palate over an earthy/mineral note that gives both complexity and underlying tension. The texture turns spherical on the long, red fruit-driven finish that just goes on and on- such a full expression in a sophisticated package. -
2015 Camigliano Brunello di Montalcino
$54.00James Suckling 94 ~ A bright and elegant Brunello that suggests sliced oranges, tulips and rose petals. Medium-to full-bodied and finely structured, drawing on silky layers of tannins and a vibrant edge of acidity. -

2016 Château Haut-Beauséjour Saint-Estèphe
$43.00Decanter 90 ~ Another Pichon Comtesse estate up in St-Estèphe with a lovely ripe fruit expression. There are some tight, austere tannins right now, and the wine is a little less immediately exuberant than some, but give it a few years in bottle to flesh out. 62% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot. -

2015 Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona ‘Pianrosso’ Brunello di Montalcino
$99.00Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 96 ~ The Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Pianrosso is distinguished by a unique aromatic profile that brings out mineral notes of crushed limestone or chalk. This adds a greater sense of focus and delineation that not only characterizes the bouquet but also applies to the way the wine hits the palate in a fuller and more determined way (compared to the slightly softer classic Brunello). Instead, this single-vineyard Brunello shows an upright and direct approach with soft salinity on the close followed by forest fruit, spice and medicinal herb. The mouthfeel makes a big impact thanks to its streamlined and polished texture. -
2018 Bodega Bernabeleva ‘Camino de Navaherreros’
$21.00Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 90 ~ The young red 2018 Camino de Navaherreros comes from an extremely balanced vintage, when it rained when it was needed, the summer wasn't too warm and the wines turned out like a more complete version of the 2016s. To make a long story short, 2018 seems to be the finest Gredos vintage in the last few years, and that's quite evident in the Bernabeleva range, especially when tasted next to the 2017s. But there is no lack of ripeness here; the grapes ripened properly, and the wine has deep aromas and flavors, fine-grained tannins and some seriousness within its approachable style. A great vintage for Camino de Navaherreros. -
2017 Leonetti Cellar Merlot
$110.00Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 93 ~ Mostly Merlot with 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2017 Walla Walla Merlot begins with a black-fruited nose but quickly moves to express red fruit on the palate.
