2017 Domaine Alain Chavy ‘Les Folatières’ Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
$127.00Vinous 94 ~ The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru, Alain Chavy’s favourite amongst his Premier Cru Puligny, has a taut, stony bouquet that shows a little more vivacity than the other Premier Crus at the moment. The palate is fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity, fine nervosité with a precise finish that is clearly a step above its "siblings". Excellent and I concur with its creator - this is one of the domaine's standouts. -
2017 Domaine Alain Chavy ‘Les Pucelles’ Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
$154.00Vinous 92 ~ The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru has a clean, precise bouquet that is just missing a little energy at the moment - much like the Les Clavoillons. The palate is well balanced with a tad more weight than the Clavoillons, quite rounded in texture, the oak well integrated with a nuanced, slightly honeyed finish that lingers in the mouth. -
2017 Alain Chavy ‘Les Charmes’ Puligny-Montrachet
$95.00Vinous 90 ~ The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Charmes, which comes from 1.80-hectares of vine, matures in 25 percent new oak. It offers hints of white flower and brioche on the nose that gently unfolds in the glass. The palate certainly has more tension and a sense of energy compared to the Puligny Village, with good salinity and a light spiciness towards the finish. This is worth seeking out.
