    2014 Bien Nacido Estate Syrah

    WA 94JD 93WE 93
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 94: The 2014 Syrah Bien Nacido Vineyard was showing very well, offering up an expressive bouquet of violets, cracked pepper, dried flowers and crushed cassis. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, bright and intense, with chalky structuring tannins, lovely tangy acidity and a long, perfumed finish. Like its 2015 counterpart, this nods to the Northern Rhône in style, but it's a bit more open for inspection.

2017 Booker Vineyard ‘My Favorite Neighbor’

    WA 94JD 96
Jeb Dunnick 96: The 2017 My Favorite Neighbor is also terrific and I suspect would cost 2-3 times its going rate if it was from Napa Valley. It's also the more elegant, perfumed, red-fruited release compared to the darker fruited Harvey and Harriet release. Classy notes of black raspberries, spice box, white flowers, lead pencil shavings, and tobacco leaf all emerge from the glass of this medium to full-bodied red, which offers a seamless texture, fine tannins, and a great finish. It will be better with 2-3 years of bottle age and keep for over a decade.

  • 2017 Melville ‘Estate’ Syrah

    WA 92JD 90WE 94
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 92: Medium ruby colored, the 2017 Syrah Estate has a nose of spiced blueberries, blackberries, tricolored peppercorn, burnt sage, garrigue and olive with smoked meats and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, it offers restrained fruit in the mouth with tons of spicy accents, firm, grainy tannins and great freshness, finishing lifted.
Wine Enthusiast 94: Vivid aromas of cracked peppercorn, dewy pepper trees, spicy bay leaf and damp herbs show on the nose of this estate Syrah—a great way to experience the cool-climate expression. Underripe black-raspberry and juniper-berry flavors show on the sip as well as coriander, peppercorn and freshly washed ashtray.

  • 2017 Chamisal Chardonnay

    WA 91WE 90
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 91: The 2017 Chardonnay Monterey County opens with notes of gunflint and toast over baked apples, yellow pears, popcorn and a tropical tinge. The palate is medium-bodied and rounded with an über spicy, fresh fruit profile lifted by mouthwatering acidity, and it finishes long and toasty. • 2015 Bien Nacido Estate ‘LXXIII Reserve’ Pinot Noir

    WA 94WE 96VN 94
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 94: There are 127 cases of the lovely 2015 Bien Nacido Vineyard LXXIII Pinot Noir, which offers up a deep-pitched bouquet of crushed cassis, cracked pepper and nori that's a bit darker and more brooding than usual, without the suggestions of the candied peel and Christmas cake that this often displays. On the palate, it's medium bodied, concentrated and structured around a fine-grained chassis of tannin and juicy acids. Give this youthfully tight-knit Pinot Noir a few years in the cellar, then follow it for a decade.
Wine Enthusiast 96: Intense cranberry aromas meet with smoked pork roast, crushed slate and pinches of sage, thyme and white pepper on the nose of this luxury-level bottling. The palate is florally flush in touches of rose and tarragon, set against snappy red-plum fruit and racy acidity.
Vinous 94: The 2015 Pinot Noir LXXIII Bien Nacido Vineyards is gorgeous. Inky blue and purplish fruit, licorice, menthol, sage, violet and lavender infuse the 2015, a wine of extreme richness and unctuosity. It will be fascinating to see how the 2015 develops during its aging. The 2015 is dense and rich, with an almost Syrah-like element of savoriness on the finish.

  • 2017 Solomon Hills Estate Chardonnay

    WS 91JD 93WE 93VN 94
Wine Spectator 91: Very crisp, featuring intense white currant, celery root and wild herbal flavors that are supported by fresh acidity. The contoured finish is driven by saline notes and flinty accents. Drink now through 2024.
Jeb Dunnick 93: From a great site just down from Bien Nacido, in the Santa Maria Valley, the 2017 Chardonnay Solomon Hills reveals a medium gold color as well as a terrific bouquet of tart pineapple, peach, white flowers, and honeysuckle. With notable elegance, medium body, bright acidity, and a clean finish, it's a racy yet balanced and well-made effort from the region that has plenty of salty minerality as well as the capacity to evolve for over a decade.
Wine Enthusiast 93: This fascinating wine begins with aromas of citrus spray and chamomile wrapped in toasted wood, offering much intrigue right away. Flavors of sour lemon candy are tight, tart and bright on the palate, which also shows warmer apple tones against a searing and sharp acidity. Drink now through 2032.
Vinous 94: The 2017 Chardonnay Solomon Hills Vineyard is quite a bit richer than the Bien Nacido Chardonnay tasted alongside it, but at the same time, it also has more energy, tension and overall volume. Tropical notes, white flowers, lemon confit, hazelnut, sage and mineral notes meld together in a potent, phenolic Chardonnay endowed with tremendous personality. The combination of bold, ripe fruit and vibrant structure is compelling.

  • 2017 Brewer-Clifton Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay

    WA 91JD 95WE 93
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 91: The 2017 Chardonnay Sta. Rita Hills has a fresh, open nose of Golden Delicious apple, yellow pear, acacia flowers, crushed stone and white peach. Light to medium-bodied with ripe fruits and integrated acidity, it has a long, minerally finish. About 2,500 cases were produced.
Jeb Dunnick 95: One of the great values out there, the 2017 Chardonnay Sta. Rita Hills offers thrilling notes of white flowers, white peach, currants, and toasted bread. This ripe, sexy wine is unquestionably at the same level as the more expensive single vineyard releases, and it will evolve for just as long.
Wine Enthusiast 93: This appellation blend carries that aromatic hallmark of this winery's Chardonnays, with a streak of walnut oil that decorates the marmalade and toast tones. The palate is bright in acidity, giving energy to the flavors of walnut paste, dried orange peel and sun-dried honeysuckle.
