    2018 Jean-Philippe Fichet Auxey-Duresses

    $60.00
Tasting Notes There is a whiff of petrol character to the green apple, lemongrass and discreet floral scents. The sleek, intense and stony medium weight flavors that possess an attractive texture and notably better complexity on the sneaky long finish. This is potentially excellent for its level.

  • 2013 Henri Prudhon & Fils ‘Sur le Sentier du Clou’ Saint-Aubin 1er Cru

    $49.00
Tasting Notes Mildly exotic nose of quinine and petrol nuances. The exceptionally rich medium-bodied flavors possess good mid-palate density as well as focused power that carries over to the less mineral-inflected finish.

2017 Domaine Faiveley ‘Clos Rochette’ Mercurey

    $38.00
    WA 92JS 92
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 92: From a stony parcel adjacent to Faiveley's Framboisière, the 2017 Mercurey Blanc Clos Rochette is showing very well indeed, wafting from the glass with scents of citrus oil, spring blossom, nutmeg and pastry cream. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with a delicately textural attack, excellent cut and concentration and a chalky finish. It will be well worth seeking out.

2017 Domaine Alain Chavy ‘Les Folatières’ Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru

    $127.00
    VN 94
Vinous 94: The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru, Alain Chavy’s favourite amongst his Premier Cru Puligny, has a taut, stony bouquet that shows a little more vivacity than the other Premier Crus at the moment. The palate is fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity, fine nervosité with a precise finish that is clearly a step above its "siblings". Excellent and I concur with its creator - this is one of the domaine's standouts.

2015 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Corton Rognet Grand Cru

    $230.00
Tasting Notes The brooding and inexpressive nose is distinctively sauvage-inflected on the earthy and softly spiced red and dark cherry-scented aromas. There is fine richness to the textured and unusually refined middle weight plus flavors that also possess evident muscularity on the stony, intense and beautifully complex finish. Excellent quality here and this is a classic Corton that should age effortlessly for years to come.

2017 Domaine Méo-Camuzet ‘Grand Maupertuis’ Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru

    $448.00
Tasting Notes There is a bit more overall oak influence to the cooler and more restrained combination of red and dark berries with similar floral and earth nuances. The bigger difference lies in the tighter and denser medium weight plus flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the beautifully textured, more complex, more structured and more austere finale.

2016 Lucien Le Moine ‘Charmes’ Meursault 1er Cru

    $166.00
    VN 94
Vinous 94: Lovely fruit-driven aromas and flavors of apple, lemon, white peach and spices. Wonderfully rich and dense, conveying an impression of dusty dry extract and full ripeness. But penetrating acidity gives lift to this very chewy wine. The thick finish saturates the palate and builds inexorably.

2017 Domaine Alain Chavy ‘Les Pucelles’ Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru

    $154.00
    VN 92
Vinous 92: The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru has a clean, precise bouquet that is just missing a little energy at the moment - much like the Les Clavoillons. The palate is well balanced with a tad more weight than the Clavoillons, quite rounded in texture, the oak well integrated with a nuanced, slightly honeyed finish that lingers in the mouth.

2017 Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair ‘Aux Réas’ Vosne Romanée

    $144.00
Tasting Notes Here too there is just enough reduction to mask the fruit but not the underlying spice nuances. The caressing, velvety and seductively textured medium weight flavors possess fine volume plus solid depth and persistence on the balanced finish. This very good effort is very Vosne in style.

2018 Domaine Joseph Voillot ‘Les Pèzerolles’ Pommard 1er Cru

    $165.00
Tasting Notes Plenty of intense black cherry and boysenberry fruit here. Much spicier than the Epenots, revealing hints of Chinese five-spice with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit laced with sea salt, thyme and sage, and quite complex, delivering fine-grained tannins and commendable density toward the finish.

    2017 Domaine Meo-Camuzet Nuits-Saint-Georges ‘Aux Murgers’ 1er Cru

    $251.00
    WA 92
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 92: Aromas of cassis, dark berries, grilled game and smoky new oak introduce the 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Murgers, a medium-bodied wine that's satiny, layered and fine-boned, displaying unusually suave structure at this early stage and concluding with a sneakily intense finish despite its elegantly middle-weight profile. This is shaping up to be a precocious Méo Murgers that will drink well with just a few years' bottle age.

2018 Domaine Joseph Voillot Pommard ‘Vieilles Vignes’

    $90.00
Tasting Notes This is a lovely vibrant style, with strikingly fresh redcurrant fruit aromas. It has a pleasing line of finesse and elegance more often associated with Volnay. It nevertheless has a delicious central core of Pommard fruit and depth. The final sensation is one of depth and great charm.

2018 Domaine Joseph Voillot Volnay ‘Vieilles Vignes’

    $90.00
Tasting Notes An attractive bouquet of mulberry and raspberry aromas, quite refined in style and delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm, almost Pommard-like tannins. This is a masculine Volnay, broody at the moment, but it will open up nicely with time in bottle, so don’t be afraid to stick it in the cellar for four or five years.

    2017 Mathias Parent Vosne-Romanée

    $103.00
Tasting Notes The nose here features hints of floral notes that give way to bursting red fruits and Asian spices. The fruit and exotic spice notes stack up on the palate over an earthy/mineral note that gives both complexity and underlying tension. The texture turns spherical on the long, red fruit-driven finish that just goes on and on- such a full expression in a sophisticated package.

  • 2018 Louis Michel & Fils Chablis

    $29.00
    JD 90
Tasting Notes The Michel family has been producing wines in the region of Chablis since the early 19th century. The family vineyard, whose vines are 45 years old on average, is located in the heart of the original Chablis terroir. The Domaine’s vineyards cover all four appellations: Chablis Grand Cru, Premier Cru, Chablis and Petit Chablis. The Domaine has one guiding principle: in a terroir as rich and unique as Chablis, the wines are made in the vineyard with human intervention kept to a strict minimum. This Chablis reveals white fruit notes such as peach, and has a persistent mineral structure. In the mouth a stony sensation (which is so typical of Chablis) with a round mid body and a refreshing finish. Native yeast fermentation, minimal filtering and spending 6 to 10 months in stainless steel. This is pure Chablis!

James Suckling 95: There’s such richness from the very first impression with all manner of peaches and nectarines, as well as mangoes. Smooth, peach brulée and lemon curd. Some hazelnuts, too. The palate has a super fleshy feel, very plush, very seductive and a very long, full finish. Late, mineral stream here. Drink on release or hold. This will be best at 15+ years.

Vinous 90: The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Charmes, which comes from 1.80-hectares of vine, matures in 25 percent new oak. It offers hints of white flower and brioche on the nose that gently unfolds in the glass. The palate certainly has more tension and a sense of energy compared to the Puligny Village, with good salinity and a light spiciness towards the finish. This is worth seeking out.
