  • 2018 Day Wines Queen D

    $22.00
Tasting Notes ~ The fruit used for Queen D comes from a single vineyard in Oregon - The Cowhorn Vineyard, a pristine biodynamic vineyard in the heart of Applegate Valley. It's an ideal site for Rhône varietals, with its rocky, well-drained river bench soils, warm temperatures, and dry growing seasons. The 2018 Queen D is a vibrant expression of Marsanne and Roussanne in equal parts. Aromas of mandarin orange, lemon liqueur, dried peaches and apricots, and white honeysuckle give way to the suprisingly tense palate. While the richness of fruit is certainly forefront, the acidity provides a refrehsing backbone to the flavor profile.

The attentive vineyard practices of Eyrie demand focus on rigorous training of the vines, minimal interference with the ecosystem, and on picking at the optimal time. Insecticides, herbicides, and systemic chemicals are never used in the vineyards. In the winery, they refrain from unnecessarily manipulating the wines during their fermentation and maturation. The Eyrie Chasselas ages 6 month on lees. In spite of full natural malolactic fermentation the wine is crisp.

The 2018 Alto Adige Pinot Bianco Tradition is tight and focused, with white peach and citrus aromas that segue to crushed stone and flint. That mineral signature is truly distinctive and beautiful. 2018 Littorai ‘B.A. Thieriot Vineyard’ Chardonnay

    $96.00
    WA 94 VN 94
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 94 ~ The 2018 Chardonnay B.A. Thieriot Vineyard is shy at this stage, offering touches of gunflint, saline and white blossom with notes of hazelnut, toast and quince. The medium-bodied palate takes its time to open to bright, tangy flavor layers in a rounded, satiny frame and with a long finish. Give this the time it deserves in bottle, as it's currently very shy.
Vinous 94 ~ The 2018 Chardonnay Thieriot Vineyard is by far the most expressive of the 2018 Littorai Chardonnays. Slate, crushed rocks, lemon confit, mint and a touch of new French oak add character. Airy and yet deep, with striking textural complexity, the Thieriot has so much going on.

    2016 Quinta de Chocapalha Arinto

    $11.00
    WA 91
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 91 ~ The 2016 Arinto, sourced from 30-year-old vines, is the latest in a brand that is one of my favorite overachievers from Chocapalha. It comes in at 12.5 percent alcohol. This is another fine one. It has excellent acidity but a bit more depth than the 2015, if not quite its laser burst of acidity. All unoaked, it is pure and fresh, with the ability to age. (Tasting the 2008 next to it proved that, by the way.) The acidity of this grape is always a preservative and it ages well in many regions. If you like them lighter in style and crispy, this is a great warm-weather choice at a bargain price.

Sustainably Farmed, 100 percent hand harvested the soil profile lends a distinct minerality to the Torrontes fruit. Tasting Notes ~ The Michel family has been producing wines in the region of Chablis since the early 19th century. The family vineyard, whose vines are 45 years old on average, is located in the heart of the original Chablis terroir. The Domaine’s vineyards cover all four appellations: Chablis Grand Cru, Premier Cru, Chablis and Petit Chablis. The Domaine has one guiding principle: in a terroir as rich and unique as Chablis, the wines are made in the vineyard with human intervention kept to a strict minimum. This Chablis reveals white fruit notes such as peach, and has a persistent mineral structure. In the mouth a stony sensation (which is so typical of Chablis) with a round mid body and a refreshing finish. Native yeast fermentation, minimal filtering and spending 6 to 10 months in stainless steel. This is pure Chablis!

Wine Enthusiast 93 ~ This fascinating wine begins with aromas of citrus spray and chamomile wrapped in toasted wood, offering much intrigue right away. Flavors of sour lemon candy are tight, tart and bright on the palate, which also shows warmer apple tones against a searing and sharp acidity. Drink now through 2032.
Vinous 94 ~ The 2017 Chardonnay Solomon Hills Vineyard is quite a bit richer than the Bien Nacido Chardonnay tasted alongside it, but at the same time, it also has more energy, tension and overall volume. Tropical notes, white flowers, lemon confit, hazelnut, sage and mineral notes meld together in a potent, phenolic Chardonnay endowed with tremendous personality. The combination of bold, ripe fruit and vibrant structure is compelling.

  • 2017 Tablas Creek ‘Esprit de Tablas’ Blanc

    $52.00
    WA 92 VN 94
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 92 ~ The 2017 Esprit Blanc de Tablas is made up of 68% Roussanne, 17% Grenache Blanc, 7% Picpoul Blanc, 4% Picardan and 4% Clairette Blanche. The nose features honey-drizzled apples, lychee, orange peel and musk with warm hay, crushed stone, quince and pie crust notions. Medium to full-bodied with intense honeyed flavors in the mouth, it has great juicy acidity to counter and a long, gently textured finish. "This is the first vintage of the Esprit de Tablas Blanc to have Clairette and Picardin," winemaker Jason Haas says, "because we wanted to include all the white grapes from Châteauneuf-du-Pape."
Vinous 94 ~ Limpid straw-yellow. A highly perfumed, mineral-accented bouquet evokes ripe citrus and orchard fruits, buttered toast and succulent flowers, and a fennel nuance emerges with air. Shows superb depth and sharp delineation, offering vibrant tangerine, pear nectar, honeysuckle and succulent herb flavors that tighten up slowly on the back half. Powerful yet graceful, displaying sharp focus and minerally thrust on an impressively long finish that features repeating floral and orchard fruit notes.
