Crafted using the ancestral method, the wine is bottled before primary fermentation is finished — without the addition of secondary yeasts or sugars. 2020 Broc Cellars ‘Love’ Rosé
$23.00Tasting Notes ~ Chris Brockaway makes a wide range of California wine but the common denominators are that they must be made without additives (other than a small amount of SO2 as necessary), always fermented with indigenous yeasts, using grapes from vineyards that do not use synthetic chemicals. A blend of 85 percent Valdiguié, 14 percent Zinfandel, and 1 percent Trousseau - the fruit was foot stomped and left on the skins for 12 hours. Pressed into stainless steel tank where all three varieties fermented together just over 18-21 days. Spice comes from the Zinfandel, acidity from the Valdiguié and texture from the Trousseau. This is a 100% finished wine, meaning it fermented until it went dry using only native yeasts and went through spontaneous malolactic fermentation. 1,800 cases produced. Limited availability. -
2020 Day Wines ‘Vin de Days l’Orange’
$26.00Tasting Notes ~ The 2020 Vin de Days L'Orange is that textural and aromatic circus that you're looking for. This blend of 48 percent Riesling, 32 percent Müller-Thurgau, 15 percent Gewürztraminer and 5 percent Pinot gris is a marvelous expression of these aromatic varietals and what can be achieved with a little skin contact (8 days to be exact). The beautiful, floral Gewürz notes of lychee and rose juxtapose in wonderful fashion with the racy, stony minerality of the Riesling, while the Müller adds grapefruit and mango in a subtle tropical lift and Pinot gris gives acidic nuance to the firmly textured palate. With time and air, the fruit profile becomes richer and spicier with notes of candied orange rind and dried apricot. The finish remains vibrant and grippy even through the second day of being open. It's everything you're looking for from an aromatic "orange" wine. -

$123.00Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 93 ~ “The 2009 Brut Vintage blends 60 percent Pinot Noir and 40 percent Chardonnay from 20 grand and premier cru villages in the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. Fermented in stainless steel with each variety and each village kept separate and malolactic completed, the 2009 aged eight years in the cellars before being hand-riddled and disgorged. Disgorged in October 2017 and tasted in June 2018, the 2009 shows an intense, concentrated, pretty vinous and profound bouquet of ripe fruit, chalk, brioche and nutty/almond notes. Full-bodied and rich but fresh and even refined on the palate, this is a very elegant, round, charming yet well-structured and vinous Vintage Brut with a clear, fresh, structured and remarkably persistent finish. It drinks already very well today, but its aging potential is most probably stunning.” -

$30.00Tasting Notes ~ There is quite lush fruit here, but it is fresh and vibrant, with great acidity and very soft tannins. Notes of bright red cherry, raspberry, cranberry, pomegranate and a hint of citrus zest, along with slight herbal and mineral tones. -
2018 Foradori Teroldego
$37.00Vinous 91 ~ The Foradori Teroldego always makes for a wonderful introduction to the brand. In fact, it was a vertical tasting of the Teroldego, a wine created in a fresh style from younger vines, yet still noble and age-worthy, that first won my heart - not the top-shelf Granato. The 2018 is no different. Here I’m finding a display of wild berry, fresh peppery herbs, violets, and crushed stone. It’s silky in texture, complemented by cool-toned red fruits and minerals, with just a hint of round tannin that provides grip. Inner florals resonate, while residual acids pinch at the taste buds. This is perfectly balanced, wonderfully pleasing today yet able to mature over the medium term in a cold cellar. -

In the mouth it is flavorful, the palate with good balance and quite round, also shows liveliness and character, the fresh and soft tannins, the aftertaste quite well with almost all the aromas of the nose. Long aftertaste, with good persistence. -
2016 Domaine Rois Mages Rully ‘Les Cailloux’

2018 Day Wines ‘Queen D’
$22.00Tasting Notes ~ The fruit used for Queen D comes from a single vineyard in Oregon - The Cowhorn Vineyard, a pristine biodynamic vineyard in the heart of Applegate Valley. It's an ideal site for Rhône varietals, with its rocky, well-drained river bench soils, warm temperatures, and dry growing seasons. The 2018 Queen D is a vibrant expression of Marsanne and Roussanne in equal parts. Aromas of mandarin orange, lemon liqueur, dried peaches and apricots, and white honeysuckle give way to the suprisingly tense palate. While the richness of fruit is certainly forefront, the acidity provides a refrehsing backbone to the flavor profile. -

2013 Tenuta di Arceno ‘Arcanum’
$88.00Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 96 ~ The 2013 Arcanum is a blend of 73% Cabernet Franc with smaller parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cabernet Franc element is obviously strongest, and you get steely notes of black fruit follow by wild sage and rosemary oil. This is a powerful and thickly layered red wine that pushes the boundaries of extract and intensity, especially for a Tuscan red wine. Off the top of my head, I can count maybe ten wines from the region that take on such a full-bodied and opulent approach. This wine should age forward for many years to come. -
2018 Domaine de la Prébende Beaujolais

2018 The Eyrie Vineyards Chasselas Doré
$33.00Tasting Notes ~ Chasselas Doré is an old grape variety born in the Jura and Alps mountain ranges of Switzerland. Fresh, tropical and savory, it is light on its feet while having a surprising amount of structure and body. This wine is made from two rows of organically grown, ungrafted vines. The attentive vineyard practices of Eyrie demand focus on rigorous training of the vines, minimal interference with the ecosystem, and on picking at the optimal time. Insecticides, herbicides, and systemic chemicals are never used in the vineyards. In the winery, they refrain from unnecessarily manipulating the wines during their fermentation and maturation. The Eyrie Chasselas ages 6 month on lees. In spite of full natural malolactic fermentation the wine is crisp. -

2017 Domaine Alain Chavy Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru ‘Les Folatières’
$127.00Vinous 94 ~ The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru, Alain Chavy’s favourite amongst his Premier Cru Puligny, has a taut, stony bouquet that shows a little more vivacity than the other Premier Crus at the moment. The palate is fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity, fine nervosité with a precise finish that is clearly a step above its "siblings". Excellent and I concur with its creator - this is one of the domaine's standouts. -
2017 Continuum
$297.00Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 97 ~ A blend of 64 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 18 percent Cabernet Franc, 9 percent Petit Verdot and 9 Percent Merlot, the deep garnet-purple 2017 Proprietary Red soars out of the glass with notions of baked blueberries, plum preserves and blackcurrant cordial, backed up by nuances of chocolate mint, wild sage, violets and pencil shavings, plus an earthy hint of Chinese five spice. 2015 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Corton Rognet Grand Cru
$230.00Tasting Notes ~ The brooding and inexpressive nose is distinctively sauvage-inflected on the earthy and softly spiced red and dark cherry-scented aromas. There is fine richness to the textured and unusually refined middle weight plus flavors that also possess evident muscularity on the stony, intense and beautifully complex finish. Excellent quality here and this is a classic Corton that should age effortlessly for years to come. -
2017 Domaine Méo-Camuzet Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru ‘Grand Maupertuis’
$448.00Tasting Notes ~ There is a bit more overall oak influence to the cooler and more restrained combination of red and dark berries with similar floral and earth nuances. The bigger difference lies in the tighter and denser medium weight plus flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the beautifully textured, more complex, more structured and more austere finale. -

$154.00Tasting Notes ~ Dense bright purple, very lively, good weight here, a certain sucrosity, ripe fruit covers the tannins and the stems until the very end. -

2017 Domaine Alain Chavy Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru ‘Les Pucelles’
$154.00Vinous 92 ~ The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru has a clean, precise bouquet that is just missing a little energy at the moment - much like the Les Clavoillons. The palate is well balanced with a tad more weight than the Clavoillons, quite rounded in texture, the oak well integrated with a nuanced, slightly honeyed finish that lingers in the mouth. -
2017 Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair Vosne-Romanée ‘Aux Réas’
$144.00Tasting Notes ~ Here too there is just enough reduction to mask the fruit but not the underlying spice nuances. The caressing, velvety and seductively textured medium weight flavors possess fine volume plus solid depth and persistence on the balanced finish. This very good effort is very Vosne in style. -
2018 Bevan Cellars ‘Ontogeny’
$138.00Jeb Dunnick 97 ~ Cassis, black olives, tobacco, chocolate, toasted spice, and graphite notes all emerge from the 2017 Ontogeny, a more rounded, plush, sexy wine that nevertheless packs ample muscle, depth, and richness. It's a beautifully balanced, silky, awesome wine as well as a killer value. -
2017 Boich Family Cellar ‘Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III’ Cabernet Sauvignon
$190.00Tasting Notes ~ Notes of spiced plum, black cherry, and Bosc pear are followed by a note of mandarin orange and sarsaparilla that build intrigue and anticipation for the tasting experience. The palate has darker undertones and a thick round impression. The mélange of fruits and French roast coffee bean are mouth coating and build to a long satisfying finish and tannin that is perfectly ripe and firm. -
2014 Schweiger Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon

On the palate, silky layers of rhubarb, tart pie cherries, hibiscus and spice. -
2016 Cornell Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon
$175.00Vinous 97 ~ The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon shows just how far the estate has progressed in just the last few years. Powerful and explosive, with tremendous aromatic intensity, the 2016 is a rapturously beautiful wine. Dark cherry, mocha, bittersweet chocolate, new leather, spice, sage, and lavender add layers of understated nuance and complexity in this riveting, stunningly dramatic mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2016 shuts down quickly after opening, which is probably a very good thing for its aging prospects. The 2016 is an extraordinary and deeply moving wine from Cornell. -
2017 Domaine Méo-Camuzet Nuit-Saint-Georges ‘Aux Murgers’
$251.00Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 92 ~ Aromas of cassis, dark berries, grilled game and smoky new oak introduce the 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Murgers, a medium-bodied wine that's satiny, layered and fine-boned, displaying unusually suave structure at this early stage and concluding with a sneakily intense finish despite its elegantly middle-weight profile. This is shaping up to be a precocious Méo Murgers that will drink well with just a few years' bottle age. -
2018 Domaine Joseph Voillot Pommard ‘Vieilles Vignes’
$90.00Tasting Notes ~ This is a lovely vibrant style, with strikingly fresh redcurrant fruit aromas. It has a pleasing line of finesse and elegance more often associated with Volnay. It nevertheless has a delicious central core of Pommard fruit and depth. The final sensation is one of depth and great charm. -
2019 Domaine Auchère Sancerre
$27.00Tasting Notes ~ Green fruit notes on the nose such as lime, green apple, and gooseberry, as well as fresh grapefruit. Bone-dry and racy on the palate, with a characteristic minerally finish. -
2018 Domaine Joseph Voillot Volnay ‘Vieilles Vignes’
$88.00Tasting Notes ~ An attractive bouquet of mulberry and raspberry aromas, quite refined in style and delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm, almost Pommard-like tannins. This is a masculine Volnay, broody at the moment, but it will open up nicely with time in bottle, so don’t be afraid to stick it in the cellar for four or five years. -
2014 Bien Nacido Estate Syrah
$68.00Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 94 ~ The 2014 Syrah Bien Nacido Vineyard was showing very well, offering up an expressive bouquet of violets, cracked pepper, dried flowers and crushed cassis. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, bright and intense, with chalky structuring tannins, lovely tangy acidity and a long, perfumed finish. Like its 2015 counterpart, this nods to the Northern Rhône in style, but it's a bit more open for inspection. -
2017 Boich Family Cellar ‘Ritchie Vineyard’ Chardonnay
$114.00Tasting Notes ~ A full expression of ripe stone and citrus fruits burst forth on the nose, pear, sliced pineapple and kaffir lime aromas are reflected on the textured and creamy palate, while the mid-palate lifts with bright crushed river stone and citrus peel minerality, pulling the flavors along a finish that seems to linger over a minute after tasting. -

2016 Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port
$92.00Wine Spectator 97 ~ A serious Port in the making, loaded for bear with dark currant paste, warmed fig sauce and blackberry reduction flavors pouring through. The brambly grip is deeply embedded and there are gorgeous ganache and licorice snap notes hanging on the finish. Best from 2035 through 2055 -

$98.00Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 90 ~ Aromas of ripe cherries, raspberries and plums mingling with nuances of mint, rose petal and dark chocolate in a complex bouquet introduce the 2016 Chambolle-Musigny Derrière la Four, a medium to full-bodied wine that's fleshy, layered and unusually concentrated, retaining excellent balance despite its especially broad-shouldered profile this year. -
2018 Vasse Felix ‘Filius’ Chardonnay
$24.00Decanter 91 ~ Vasse Felix was the first vineyard and winery founded in Margaret River, in 1967. Heytesbury Chardonnay is its icon white, Premier the mid-tier, and its ‘son’ (Filius) is modestly priced, yet delivers a taste of that famous house style: buttery oak, apple crumble, sweet peach, vibrant acidity. -
2018 Cave des Grand Crus Blancs Pouilly-Fuisse

$26.00Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 91 ~ Cantina Terlano specializes in Pinot Bianco (or Weissburgunder in German), and this entry-level value wine absolutely delivers the goods. The 2018 Alto Adige Pinot Bianco Tradition is tight and focused, with white peach and citrus aromas that segue to crushed stone and flint. That mineral signature is truly distinctive and beautiful. You can't exactly call this a lean-bodied wine, because you do get a taste of that extra heft and texture that always comes with Pinot Bianco of this level. -
2018 Domaine Pierre Guillemot Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru ‘Les Narbantons’
$66.00Tasting Notes ~ One sniff is all it takes to know it is premier cru Burgundy. Subtle and restrained from the purity of the limestone soils, it also burns bright with red berries and soft tannins. -
2018 Pierre Jean Villa Condrieu ‘Jardin Suspendu’
$82.00Vinous 94 ~ Translucent yellow. Powerful aromas of fresh citrus and pit fruits and pungent flowers are lent vivacity by a smoky mineral element. The long, seamless finish delivers impressive lift and vivacity and a resonating mineral flourish. -
2018 Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape
$116.00Jeb Dunnick 95 ~ The grand vin is the 2018 Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It's an elegant version of this cuvée, offering beautiful blueberry, raspberry, crushed violet, graphite, and crushed rock-like minerality. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and balanced, it’s polished and seamless, yet has plenty of tannins as well as richness, and is going to evolve beautifully. -
2018 Littorai ‘B.A. Thieriot Vineyard’ Chardonnay
$96.00Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 94 ~ The 2018 Chardonnay B.A. Thieriot Vineyard is shy at this stage, offering touches of gunflint, saline and white blossom with notes of hazelnut, toast and quince. The medium-bodied palate takes its time to open to bright, tangy flavor layers in a rounded, satiny frame and with a long finish. Give this the time it deserves in bottle, as it's currently very shy. -
2015 Recchia Amarone della Valpolicella Classico
$41.00Tasting Notes ~ Black garnet color. Aromas of stewed plums, spray roses, herb garden, and sweet tobacco with a velvety, vibrant, fruity medium-to-full body and a complex, long dark chocolate, cherry-coconut bar, candied tangerine peel, sundried tomato, green almond, and mocha finish with well-integrated tannins and moderate oak flavor. -
2017 Château Saint Cosme Châteauneuf-du-Pape
$70.00Jeb Dunnick 91 ~ This 2017 Châteauneuf-du-Pape offers a sunny, round, medium to full-bodied profile that’s already hard to resist. Lots of spice, kirsch, lavender, and garrigue notes, solid mid-palate depth, sweet tannins, and a great finish all make for an outstanding wine that’s capable of lasting for over a decade. -
2012 Château Leoville Poyferré Saint Julien
$124.00Jeb Dunnick 94 ~ One of the more stacked, ripe and rockingly textured wines from the left bank, the 2012 Léoville Poyferré sports a deep ruby/purple color to go with terrific notes of crème de cassis, graphite, lead pencil shavings and violets. Rich, full-bodied, supple and forward, with low acidity and ripe tannin, give bottles 4-5 years (although it dishes out ample pleasure even today) and enjoy through 2037. -
2017 Mathias Parent Morey-Saint-Denis
$100.00Tasting Notes ~ This sports both red and dark berry fruit on the nose with a savory note coming through as well as a violet note. This features rich dark berry/blueberry fruit on the palate along with exotic spice notes and a flash of mineral. The long finish brings sappy, lush fruit back with mouthwatering freshness. -
2017 Johann Michel Cornas
$53.00Vinous 92 ~ Deep lurid ruby. Smoke-accented blackberry, cherry compote and violet qualities, along with a spicy nuance that builds in the glass. Shows very good depth as well as energy in the mouth, offering sweet blueberry, cherry and candied violet flavors that spread out slowly on the back half. Closes smooth and long, with repeating spice and floral qualities and gentle tannic grip. Made from de-stemmed fruit. -
2017 Occidental ‘Occidental Station Vineyard’ Pinot Noir
$105.00Jeb Dunnick 96 ~ Coming from a more inland vineyard that’s one of the first to be harvested, the 2017 Pinot Noir Occidental Station Vineyard sports a deeper ruby/purple color as well as a tighter yet intense style carrying lots of almost blue fruits, violets, peppery spice, and spring flowers. Despite showing ample power and richness, it has a vivid spine of acidity, ripe, present tannins, and a great finish, all pointing to a solid decade or more of prime drinking. I think it will show every more complexity with a year or two of bottle age. -
2017 Mathias Parent Vosne-Romanée
$103.00Tasting Notes ~ The nose here features hints of floral notes that give way to bursting red fruits and Asian spices. The fruit and exotic spice notes stack up on the palate over an earthy/mineral note that gives both complexity and underlying tension. The texture turns spherical on the long, red fruit-driven finish that just goes on and on- such a full expression in a sophisticated package. -
2015 Camigliano Brunello di Montalcino
$54.00James Suckling 94 ~ A bright and elegant Brunello that suggests sliced oranges, tulips and rose petals. Medium-to full-bodied and finely structured, drawing on silky layers of tannins and a vibrant edge of acidity. -
2016 Quinta de Chocapalha Arinto Branco
$11.00Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 91 ~ The 2016 Arinto, sourced from 30-year-old vines, is the latest in a brand that is one of my favorite overachievers from Chocapalha. It comes in at 12.5 percent alcohol. This is another fine one. It has excellent acidity but a bit more depth than the 2015, if not quite its laser burst of acidity. All unoaked, it is pure and fresh, with the ability to age. (Tasting the 2008 next to it proved that, by the way.) The acidity of this grape is always a preservative and it ages well in many regions. If you like them lighter in style and crispy, this is a great warm-weather choice at a bargain price. -
2018 Domaine Pierre Guillemot Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru ‘Les Serpentières’
$72.00Tasting Notes ~ Pretty bouquet of red cherries, plums and strawberries mingled with spices and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, deep and fleshy, it's nicely concentrated, its ample chassis of satiny tannin largely concealed, concluding with fine persistence. -
2017 Thibault Liger-Belair Bourgogne ‘Les Grands Chaillots’
$42.00Tasting Notes ~ This wine has a fresh bouquet of bright red fruit mixed with light violet scents; indeed, a little Chambolle-like in style. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry with blood orange fusing with red cherry/kirsch notes with good delineation on the finish. -
2017 Domaine Anne et Hervé Sigaut Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru ‘Les Charmes’
$100.00Tasting Notes ~ Medium-bodied and fresh, the wine shows flavors of pithy cherry, pepper, wet earth, and dried flowers. -
2018 Regis Bouvier Gevrey-Chambertain

2017 Domaine Alain Normand Mâcon La Roche-Vineuse ‘Vieilles Vignes’
$30.00Tasting Notes ~ Quite dry and moderately acidic. Slight toast and almonds on the nose, lots of vegetable tastes with mineral finish. Well-balanced, a good food accompaniment. -
2017 Domaine Anne et Hervé Sigaut Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru ‘Les Groseilles’
$100.00Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 90 ~ Aromas of plum raspberry dark chocolate and spices preface the 2017 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Groseilles a medium to full-bodied wine with a fleshy gourmand core of fruit that's framed by ripe velvety tannins and succulent acids. This is a pretty charming Groseilles that will deliver pleasure with minimal bottle age but hold for the better part of two decades in a good cellar. -
2016 Thomas Morey Beaune 1er Cru ‘Les Grèves’
$49.00Tasting Notes ~ Pale color. Very ripe fresh apricot plus a whiff of dried fruits on the nose. Gentle, fruit-driven style with modest mid-palate stuffing. Finishes with a tart edge. -

2019 La Spinetta Toscana Vermentino
$25.00Tasting Notes ~ Light golden coloraromas of pear, pungent flowers and a touch of herbacity nuanced and wonderfully focused. With the energy of Vermentino driving the wine's personality, citrus, orchard fruit and floral notes are nicely delineated in this attractive, inviting white. Sustainably farmed and Estate bottled. -
2016 Château Haut-Beauséjour Saint-Estèphe
$39.00Decanter 90 ~ Another Pichon Comtesse estate up in St-Estèphe with a lovely ripe fruit expression.
