    Wine Advocate 92: The 2017 Esprit Blanc de Tablas is made up of 68% Roussanne, 17% Grenache Blanc, 7% Picpoul Blanc, 4% Picardan and 4% Clairette Blanche. The nose features honey-drizzled apples, lychee, orange peel and musk with warm hay, crushed stone, quince and pie crust notions. Medium to full-bodied with intense honeyed flavors in the mouth, it has great juicy acidity to counter and a long, gently textured finish. "This is the first vintage of the Esprit de Tablas Blanc to have Clairette and Picardin," winemaker Jason Haas says, "because we wanted to include all the white grapes from Châteauneuf-du-Pape."
    Vinous 94: Limpid straw-yellow. A highly perfumed, mineral-accented bouquet evokes ripe citrus and orchard fruits, buttered toast and succulent flowers, and a fennel nuance emerges with air. Shows superb depth and sharp delineation, offering vibrant tangerine, pear nectar, honeysuckle and succulent herb flavors that tighten up slowly on the back half. Powerful yet graceful, displaying sharp focus and minerally thrust on an impressively long finish that features repeating floral and orchard fruit notes.

    Wine Advocate 94: Composed of 83% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Sauvignon Gris and 7% Sémillon fermented 17% in new oak, 48% in neutral oak and 35% in concrete, the 2016 Sauvignon Blanc Mt. Veeder has quite an earthy/mineral nose to begin, featuring notes of wet pebbles, chalk dust and damp moss over a core of ripe peaches, lemon curd and dried herbs. The medium to full-bodied palate has great vivacity and depth, sporting a beautifully chewy phenolic texture and rasping backbone of acidity to support the intense citrus and herbal flavors, finishing on a lingering chalky note. Still very youthful, forget it for a year or two and drink it over the next 10-12 years+.

    Tasting Notes This wine has the white peach, toasted almond or marshmallow, and ripe pear nose that is expected with Chardonnay, as well as plenty of weight, length, and richness. It is not showy, however — it’s incredible opulence is natural, not created in the cellar. It has a distinct core of rock dust, or ground oyster shell, which is the distinguishing characteristic of the vineyard.
